Følsgaard wins major tender: Transformers will future-proof Eastern Denmark's electricity grid
Transformers are crucial to cope with the growing demand for electricity, a demand that will continue to grow in years to come due to the accelerating energy transition, and the transition away from fossil fuels and into electric vehicles. "All analyses show that the demand for electricity will increase, and this means increased pressure on the electricity grid. That is why we are making massive investments in the Eastern Danish electricity grid, and it is crucial that we have strong partners. The transformers offered by Hans Følsgaard, and Koncar have a very high energy efficiency keeping down the power losses in the grids. Minimizing grid losses ultimately results in a more sustainable electricity grid – both economically and energy-wise," says Frederik Dalgård Andersen, Planning Manager at Cerius-Radius.
For Head of Powertech in Hans Følsgaard, Lars Hoppe-Hagelskjær, the large order has confirmed the weight Hans Følsgaard has gained in the infrastructure area: "We have been selling transformers to the Danish infrastructure for 30 years, and the agreement with NEXEL confirms that we are a significant partner in this area as well. We look forward to a long collaboration with NEXEL, which has chosen us as their first supplier."

Tomas Christensen, Functional Manager at Nexel, also points out the strategic advantage of the tender result: "It was important to us that the tender was in favour of several suppliers, as it gives us increased delivery reliability. If unforeseen complications should arise in one supplier, we can always draw a little more on the other. The transformers will be used both to upgrade our existing facilities and when we need to build new ones. For example, when residential buildings and commercial areas are expanded, or when new fast charging stations for electric cars are set up," he explains.
The contract, which runs from 1 January 2025 to the end of 2029 with the possibility of extension, ensures that Hans Følsgaard will play a central role in the development and securing of a more robust and efficient electricity grid in Eastern Denmark.
