Product Engineer - Protection & Control, Powertech

Hans Følsgaard is looking for a skilled and curious Product Engineer to join our Sprecher team in Ry. You will become part of a strong professional environment working with some of the most critical components in power supply – where quality, responsibility, and collaboration are key.

You will play an important role in the design and implementation of protection and control solutions, working closely with technology, customers, and real-world applications – including commissioning on-site.

Your role

You will work with the design, implementation, and commissioning of protection and control systems for substations and grid solutions, while contributing to high technical quality and continuous development.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Design and engineering of protection and control systems
  • Selection, parameterization, and testing of protection relays
  • Participation in FAT/SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Technical sparring with customers, colleagues, and partners
  • Contributing to standardization, documentation, and knowledge sharing


Your tasks

You will work with:

  • Configuration of protection and control relays (distance, overcurrent, differential, etc.)
  • Integration with substation control and SCADA systems
  • Implementation of IT and network requirements in installations
  • Testing and commissioning, including measurements and use of tools such as Omicron
  • Preparation of technical documentation and handover to operations

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, EasyRedmine or similar)
  • Interest in or knowledge of IT networks, fiber, and cybersecurity (NIS2)


Who are you?

You have a strong electrical engineering background and experience with protection and control systems, and you are motivated by working on solutions that make a real difference for critical infrastructure.

We expect that you:

  • Hold a degree in electrical engineering (engineer, marine engineer, electrical installer, or similar)
  • Have experience with protection, control, and SCADA – preferably within transmission or distribution grids
  • Have worked with systems such as Sprecher Automation (Sprecon E/C, SCADA V460) or similar
  • Are familiar with standards such as IEC 61850
  • Have experience with testing tools such as Omicron
  • Are used to working with electrical diagrams, documentation, and projects

Travel: Approx. 10–15 days per year
